Jerad Marantz finishes his demo on creature design and talks about what are the 10 things that are most important to being a concept creature designer in the entertainment industry in part II of the lecture he gave at Careers in Concept Art.
“Jerad S Marantz has been working in both the Film and Game industry for over ten years. After graduating from Pasadena Art Center College of Design he started designing for Stan Winston Studio. He has also freelanced for several special FX houses including: Amalgamated Dynamics Inc., Quantum Creation FX, Creature FX Inc, and Almost Human. .
In late 2005 Jerad worked full-time at Ncsoft Santa Monica where he designed for such games as, “Richard Garriot’s Tabula Rasa,” Guild Wars and Lineage Forever. He has also freelanced for Midway (Surreal Games), THQ and Climax.
Marantz started his career at an early age interning for Special FX houses. Trying a little of everything enabled him to narrow his focus to character / creature design for the Film and Game industries. His acquired skills in sculpture, painting, illustration, Zbrush, and Photoshop all aide his unique sense of concept design.
