Hi Everyone,
Just want to let you know our instructor, Ed Li just created a new blog featuring his artworks from “Princess and the Frog” along with many other projects.
http://www.edlisketch.blogspot.com/
Ed’s Sketching for Environment class is a great start for anyone interested in getting into Environment Design. He focuses on the use of space/composition to stage up visual impact and how to look for key things in locations to make the space memorable and believable (personality and scale).
The class includes many field trips, so the students can learn to draw and compose different environment/lighting situations from real life locations.
Sign up soon as space is limited. Hope everyone is staying warm and have a great weekend~!!

So for those of you who were unable to attend the opening of “Fugetiten” at Tortoise this evening, here is what you missed. Upon entering the exhibition, I was greeted by Yoko Tsukamatsu and Noriaki Yamada who produces some amazing textile works. There they are posing in front of their creations. I especially love the hapi coat in the center. Also participating was Rika Fukuda who displayed her culinary arts with her hand-made syrups on shaved ice. I was sort of shy to ask for one until she offered me to try some. My flavor of choice was narrowed down to wasambo, since I didn’t know what that was. It is actually sugar which had been processed 3 times in order to achieve it’s smooth and consistent taste. This is a great show and has opened my eyes to explore the historical importance of ones subject matter in order to achieve new and modern works of art. Fugeiten will run from July 18 through August 3, 2008.

Their current exhibit features 4 ceramic and fabric artists from Tokyo who will be in attendance and probably a bit jet-lagged. Here are the details:
