Society of Illustrators present “International Shorts,”

On February 17, 2010, the Society of Illustrators partners with BeFilm to present “International Shorts,” a showcase of international short films which premiered at the BeFilm Underground Film Festival in recent years.
The event will showcase live action narrative, documentary, experimental animation, 3-D stereoscopic and spec films from filmmakers around the globe. Films presented will include the Academy Award-Nominated film Binta Y La Gran Idea; Mirage, the winner of the Audience Award at the Aspen Short Festival,and the highly-lauded French animated film, Berni’s Doll.

For more than 100 years, the Society of Illustrators has been an integral part of New York City’s arts community. Home to the Museum of American Illustration, the Society promotes the art and appreciation of illustration, encourages high ideals through exhibitions, lectures, education and fosters a sense of community and open discussion. The Society of Illustrators and Museum of American Illustration is open to the public in a circa 1875 carriage house with state-of-the-art galleries located on East 63rd Street.

The Society of Illustrators is pleased to partner with BeFilm to promote their shared goal of exposing New Yorkers to the best in independent film. Now in its seventh year, Be Film focuses only on short films with over 500 submissions from around the world. Stemming from the belief that “Shorter is Better,” Be Film has become one of the most followed short film festivals on the East Coast. Beginning in 2009, Be Film is the first established film festival in the US to recognize and include the 3-D stereoscopic medium with its own category.
