Animal Anatomy Workshop and Animal Drawing Class at LAAFA

#7100 – Marshall Vandruff 3-Day Animal Anatomy Workshop
Fri-Sun, Aug. 13-15, 2010, 10am-5pm

This crash-course will teach you the classic approach to draftsmanship and animal anatomy. If you’ve ever wondered how drawing masters can depict a horse leaping or a bear dancing without copying photographs, these three days of intense instruction will take you through the process step-by-step. You will learn how to confidently draw animals from imagination as well as to interpret what you see when drawing from real animals. Those mysterious bumps on a lion’s limbs will make sense when you know the underlying structure. Marshall will compare various types of four-legged animals with humans, always with an emphasis on how to master “form in space” so they look realistic, alive, and authoritative.

#4009 – Animal Drawing on Location

5-Week Course and 10-Week Course

Instructor: Jonathan Kuo

Saturday, 10am-1pmEmphasizes on animal drawing by using perceptual and technical skills. Emphasis are based on four ideas: 1) Gesture – action and attitude of the pose 2) Form – synthetic volumes and geometric shapes 3) Anatomy – what is it made out of, and 4) Techniques – exploration with various mediums and different ways of handling the materials
